Inspired by kaju katli, the cashew sweet we love sharing during Diwali, Saffron Cashew pairs creamy cashew butter with fragrant saffron. We brought those flavors into a bar you can tuck into a gift, share over chai, or keep for yourself.
Cashew butter gives it a soft, nutty base. Whole milk powder adds richness, with saffron bringing its own delicate warmth. Pour a cup of chai and pass one around.

Heray Spice
From Herat, Afghanistan, to a bar made for celebration.
We partnered with Heray Spice for the saffron in this bar. Their saffron comes from Afghanistan, where they work with a farmers’ cooperative in Herat. It brings a delicate aroma to our creamy cashew base.
A founder with roots in Herat
Heray Spice is a Chicago-based spice company founded by Mohammad Salehi, who grew up in a farming family in Herat. He built the business to connect Afghan-grown spices with chefs and home cooks while helping farmers earn better wages.
A cooperative, close to the source
In Herat, Heray works with a farmers’ cooperative on saffron processing, food safety, and packaging. Their approach centers on knowing the farmers, paying them fairly, and making the origin of their spices traceable.
We chose their saffron for its delicate aroma. Paired with cashew butter and whole milk powder, it brings the flavor of the festive sweets that inspired this bar.
